TIM/CIM© model is developed based on the international standards

• ISO 15489, which provides guidance on managing records of originating organizations, public or private, for internal and external clients.
• ISO 23081:2006 which covers the principles that underpin and govern records management metadata. These principles apply through time to: - records and their metadata; - all processes that affect them; - any system in which they reside; - any organization that is responsible for their management.
• NEN 2082, which covers functionalities for Records Management Applications within organisations. This standard is based on the requirements of ReMaNo and Interlab for the Dutch situation.
