History

European Certification Bureau Nederland BV, shortly ECB, has been established in 1995 as a result of new European legislation. Its founder B.P. Marijnen (lawyer and expert on European product safety legislation) was organising the answer to the European New Approach Directives which rule big parts of the product safety of products that are brought on the European market. The harmonisation process of product safety legislation is one of the major legal operations in Europe of the last 20 years.


ECB
is accredited by the Dutch Counsel of Accreditation for the scopes European Directive Marine Equipment (equipment for sea-going vessels), European Directive Pleasure Craft, engines, engine exhaust  emissions, engine sound emissions, personal safety, pollution prevention, fire protection, assessment after building, partly completed craft. See for complete scopes the Counsel for Accreditation, www.rva.nl.
   
The complete quality system is tuned to perform testing, inspection and certification, in combination with the system of the European product safety legislation, the EU Directives and other international standards. Also the not-accredited activities in the voluntary domain are performed according to the requirements of NEN-EN 45011.

 

ECB was appointed by the Dutch government as Notified Body for the Recreational Craft Directive and the Marine Equipment Directive.
In the voluntary domain ECB Nederland was requested by the industry to develop the quality system for Yacht Charter Companies, the ECB SCC Certification (Safe Charter Certificate). ECB Nederland has developed ECB Rigging Rules 2000 for the safety calculations and inspections of sailing rigs.

 

In reaction to the data information explosion and the struggle for companies to get grip on their archiving organisation, has ECB Nederland developed auditing and certification procedures of IT hard and software products and auditing and certification of the quality of implemented Business Information Systems in organisations.

  

ECB is organised on the basis of legal requirements, technical requirements, ISO standards, and the evaluation thereof.
